Question: I have a kidney stone in my left kidney that at last visit with my Urologist was about 9-10mm (which has been over 6 months) I am now experiencing tingling/numbness in the area of my kidney, along with the feeling that my back is bruised in this spot. Do you know what this could be?

Brief Answer:
Kidney stone with tingling and bruising feel

Detailed Answer:
Hi,Dear,Good Evening from XXXXXXX
Thanks for the query with brief up on your health concerns.
I would need to have more info on your stone as follows-
a-Urine microscopic report
b-Spiral CT report with typing of the kidney stone done if any?
c-History of any systemic complaints with fever and chills in last few days with tingling numbness feel.
d-Photograph of the bruised spot in your back.
Till then I would suggest few treatment as follows-
a-Plenty of fluids -4-5 liters per day
b-Anti-spasmodic drugs for the renal colic if need be under cover of your ER doctor.
c-Antibiotics -if chills and fever occur with bruised back
Hope this would help you to recover your issues.
Await your reports and more info in this regard to ME ASAP.
Wishing your fast recovery,
Good Night.

I have not been to the doctor in 6 months because there hasn't been any pain/symptoms. My stone is a calcium stone based on my history. There is no bruising on my back, just tenderness around the area of my kidney. I am trying to figure out if this is something I should be concerned about....I have (prior to October 2014) had a history of Calcium kidney stones every 3-6 months starting in 2011 until 2014, non of the stone's were able to be passed on my own and I've had to have multiple lithotripsy's done (some to actually extract the stone), in October 2014, I had one of my parahtyroid's removed due to a tumor. However, the stone that was present at that time, was never removed. Since that time, I have not had any symptoms of kidney stone trying to pass.

Kidney Stone with bruise feeling in back

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the updates from you.(2nd F/u reply/Wed/8.35 am)

After review of your information, from what I understand your's is a special case of ? PTH adenoma once removed. In this context the bruise feeling and tenderness concerns me. I would at first want to rule out issues with kidney functions. Therefore I urge you to see a doctor at the earliest.

Before suggesting on the plan of treatment -I would need -following tests. If you are unable to see a doctor, you might consult ER doctors and get the tests done.
a-Serum Calcium level
b-Current-Para-thyorid Hormone Levels
c-X-ray KUB
d-Urine microscopic -for any infection of the urine with Basal Metabolic Pannel for kidney functioning status.
After studying the stone and the kidney status,I would help you to plan further treatment in this case

Till then continue as per the last treatment and take Care.
Hope this would help you out till further treatment is planned.

-ALERT-
You have to be concerned about the bruising feel in your kidney seriously.
I would like to plan a non-surgical Treatment this time.So act Fast.

Await your pre-surgery old-october, 2014 test reports and current test reports about your kidney.

Good Day,
With Regard,
Dr.Savaskar M.N.
