Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

I can understand your worry, many patients will be nervous about the anesthesia, but I can assure you that is totally safe to use Propofol. It has fewer side effects than others, and the recovery from it after the operation is really fast.

I hope you find my answer is helpful to you,

Do you know if Propofal wears off on it%E2%80%99s own after Colonoscopy? I read that it slows down breathing and heart rate? Also I take Dilantin, Astorvasttin, and Metorprolol. Is it okay to use with these medications? sorry for all the questions I am just really nervous. I tried to do a Colonoscopy 5 years ago with no sedation, and it was just to painful.

Brief Answer:
Dear sir/ma'am

Detailed Answer:
your medication does not contraindicates the propofol, it is normally that when you are sleeping, your heart rate and pressure drop down like when you are sedated.
As you mentioned, doing any intervention without sedation, it will be very painful. so, am assuring you that it is ok to take propofol and you will regain your consciousness with no side effects.

I hope you will be fine soon

Do you mean the heart rate and breathing slow down like it does when you are sleeping? Also is it ok to do a Colonoscopy with a cold?

Brief Answer:
.

Detailed Answer:
yes , I mean like when you are sleeping, your heart rate and blood pressure goes down, but it does not produce any problem as your organs goes in a resting position too and does not need a lot of oxygen or blood to produce its function. It is just like when you are sedated with anesthesia.

It is also ok to do colonoscopy when you have cold, it will affect nothing to the procedure.

Hope you will be fine soon...
