Question: I am 31year old. I have 3 year old son. It's almost 1 year I have only 3 days period. Before that I have 4-5 days period. This month i have my period only for 2 days. On first day it was very light. Not a good flow. On second day i have my usual blood flow. No blood flow on 3 rd day. Today is my 4th day and no blood flow yet. Is there any problem.? I am so worried about this. I was breast feeding for last 3 years. Exclusive breast feed for 6 months. 4 months after delivery I have my periods back. For last 1 year I breast feed my son only 1 time per day. Last month I completely stopped breast feeding. Is because of this I have short period this month?

Brief Answer:
Detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.

Stoppage of breast feeding is not likely to be the cause of your scanty period since you have been feeding only once a day.

Some possible causes in the current scenario are- thinner endometrium secondary to altered hormone levels, decreased uterine endometrial area secondary to inflammation and formation of synechiae and altered nutritional levels like anemia etc.

You can have a routine check up with your gynecologist to see if everything is fine. There is no need for worry about decreased menstrual flow if there is no underlying condition. It is simply a change of pattern.

Please maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Hope you find this information helpful. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

I thought menustral flow for 2 days is something to be concerned. I feel no health problem other than this.

Don't worry but just have a check up.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing back.

As I mentioned earlier, in the majority of cases there is no underlying cause. However, it is always advisable to have a routine check up regularly.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you need anything else. I will be happy to help.
