How To Terminate Pregnancy?
Question: Hi ,
I have been living with my girlfriend for past 2 years . A week before we found that she is pregnant . We wen to see a near by doctor who told us to get Beta HCG done and then she will give my gf the pills . Her Beta HCG levels tested last friday were 4000 , and it has been 6 weeks since we had sex .
My gf is in medical profession herself and she has to do a lot of work standing , plus she has polio induced paralysis in one of her legs , due to which her day to day activities are quite strenuous .
I want to know which abortion procedure will be safe right now , considering that she might not be able to take much leave from work , also i dont want her to suffer too much pain and all .
And can you suggest me the best MTP centres in XXXXXXX .

Thanks for the quick reply Mam .
But we have asked a few people and searched through net and all we see is horror stories related to medical abortion . On the contrary , surgical abortion though costly , is been referred as less painful and more safe .
Can you please suggest if we shd opt for surgical abortion ?

I consulted a gynae in XXXXXXX Healtcare , and we have opted for a medical abortion . My gf was given Mifepristone last day at the hospital , and she will be administered with Mifepristol vaginally tommorow , ie, on Sunday .
Now my gf forgot to tell her doctor about the "Candida infection" she has for last 1 month . Can you please let us know if this wont cause any harm to her , or if the pills shd be taken orally in such case , or not taken at all .

hi Mam
sorry to bother you again . my gf took misopristol vaginally at around 10.30 am today under supervision of our gynae. she didnt have any cramps till now but she passed two big clots( one was a white tissue) at 11.30 am (i.e 1 hr after taking medicine). She is bleeding but not very heavily and had back pain too which is gone now . We are worried that the medicine didnt work . The gestational age is exactly 6 weeks in her case . please let us know if it is normal ?

Its normal
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
Passing white fleshy mass, abdominal cramps and bleeding are suggestive of the fact that the abortion process has started.
There is nothing to worry.

Hello Mam ,
It has been 24 hours since she took misoprostol , and apart from 2 clots which looked like gestational sac (which passed only after 45 mins of taking misoprostol) , nothing significant has happened . There has been no cramping at all .
She was bleeding last day which has now reduced to simple period like bleeding only .
What shd we do further ?
The problem is that our doc has given us appointment for thursday as she is out of town and we dont know what to do .
I have referred to guidelines available on various medical sites and everywhere it says that it takes 2 - 4 hours for clots to pass which is accompanied with heavy bleeding , and then after 24 hrs some normal bleeding continues for a few weeks . They also mention about taking antibiotics the day after taking pill .
Please guide Mam .

Brief Answer:
Do not worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, since she has passed the fleshy mass and is bleeding afterwards, the process of abortion is likely completed.
Antibiotics are not mandatory after medical abortion, and should be given only if any fever or persistent pain in lower abdomen is there.
I suggest you not to worry and get a repeat ultrasound after one week to see if the abortion has completely occured.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
