Question: hello doctor my wife takes 4 tablets of misoprostol.After this her period comes slightly not heavy. and then it will stop. Should there take another tablet to continue?pls suggest. thanx

If your wife has self-medicated with the kit, the dosage could be insufficient. Please check with a specialist for a proper confirmation of the pregnancy and also get a trans-vaginal sonogram to locate the sac.

Mifepristone contained in the kit usually induces bleeding in a few hours of administration. If Misoprostol is added to this, efficacy is enhanced.

Should her to take 1 tablet of mifepristone to complete and continue there period? its already cheked through pragency kit and its shows positive.should its will secure to take mifepristone tablet till next morning?Is there anything wrong with her in future due to this? pls clear my dought. i am greatly scared..

her period timely comes in every months. but this month (january) it does not comes and it delays 1 week.after 1 week, pragnency kit declayed positive.Then 4 tablets os misopristone within 24 hours.after this slightly bleeding comes and it stoped.what should i do now?? Is there should take 1 mifepristone tablet next morning or not??

There is no need to worry in the current situation. Only, take the advice of a specialist in person now to plan further management since induced medical abortion is safer under medical supervision. Otherwise, incomplete abortion may lead to heavy bleeding and infection.

The dosage of the medication needed is determined by the age of the pregnancy. If a single dose fails to induce the abortion, repeated dose may become necessary. Since she has already taken 4 tablets, added dose is not necessary now. Observation is needed and under medical supervision, Misoprostol may be added to complete the abortion.

there have 1 week pragnency fonud through pragnency kit .after taking mifty kit of all doses till last 2 days, there is only little bleeding comes and stop and also white discharge no coming. today only tiredness and little vomating nature found right now and sometimes little stomach pain also..what is it means? is pragnency is completely aborted or not?what should i do now? and for abortion process what is the totle cost for it? i m from XXXXXXX city.

is during treatment the doctors known that i use to self medicated.however i m not telling them?

As I mentioned earlier, abortion of an early pregnancy does not lead to much bleeding and often the products pass unnoticed in the form a clot. It is difficult to say without a clinical examination whether she has the symptoms of vomiting and abdominal pain due to the medication and/or an incomplete abortion. This needs a clinical and sonogram evaluation.

In order to clarify, you should see a specialist for further management now. Usually, if no further medication is necessary, you have to pay the consultant fee and the sonogram fee which vary with the institute. On an average, they range from Rs. 2000-3000. If repetition of the medication is needed, the cost would increase.

Also, you have to disclose the fact that you have self-medicated to the consultant to make further treatment easier.
