Brief Answer:
Thyroxine substitute

Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Noted your concern. Hypothyroidism does make one to put on few kilos ( usually 2-3 kilos) of weight. What is your latest TSH result?

Synthroid is Levothyroxine and the substitute is Armour thyroid. However, it is least preferred by most of the endocrinologists as it is of animal origin. Thyroid hormone analogues are other group of medicines which are still in development.

In your case, there could be other causes of weight gain apart from thyroid issues. May I know your weight and height ?

Regards
Binu

Brief Answer:
Cause of Gas formation

Detailed Answer:
Okay.
Optimizing the sYNTHROID dose is essential. That will alleviate gas problem to an extent. We need to find out why you are developing so much bloating. You may need to try a diet free of gluten and diary products for a period of 2 weeks and observe if that makes a difference. Hypothyroidism is mostly an auto immune disease and people with Hypothyroidism could also develop Celiac disease because that is also an auto immune disease. Celiac disease can cause gas formation. Lactose intolerance in adults is another cause of gas formation. That is the reason I mentioned about Gluten and Diary products free diet for 2 weeks.

Otherwise you should try to take tablets containing SIMETHICONE ( MOXAL PLUS Chewable tablets) which helps to reduce gas

I will be seeing my endo dr in the near future. will discuss it with him

Brief Answer:
Hypo following surgery

Detailed Answer:
Thank you. Got your point. You had thyroidectomy for a Toxic goiter and hence developed Hypothyroidism. When you developed Hypothyroidism after the surgery, your metabolism would have slowed down which cause weight gain and bloating etc.

I can not close the answer unless i reply. Hence replied. Wish you a speedy recovery
