Diverticulosis if uncomplicated most often remain without any symptoms. It is more common in elderly individuals. It can be diagnosed barium xrays, coloncoscopy and CT scan. Complications include inflammtion, perforation and bleeding.

Colitis present with abdominal pain, loose stools with sometimes blood and mucus in it. Stool test and colonoscopy can be done for diagnosing colitis.
