Question: Hi...my wife is pregnant 2 months (5 weeks). We had a positive urine and blood test. She had chicken pox last month and had antibiotics for 7 days. Chicken pox was mild and recovered with in 12 days. Chicken pox started on April 20. Her last periods was on April 25th having a 28 days cycle. As she is pregnant now, is there any issues concerned?

Brief Answer:
No need to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
If the chicken pox was treated before conception, which occurs almost 14 days after the last menstrual period, then there is absolutely nothing to worry.
There will be no effect on the fetus or pregnancy.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Yes Mam, Thank You...

Yea the last date of periods was during the chickenpox on April 25th. She recovered from chickenpox by April 30th. As per our calculation, the date of conception will be on May 9th or May 10th which is 8-9 days after the chicken pox. As our parents were concerned, we also got confused and thought about it.

Hope there will not be any issues in connection with the chickenpox for the fetus and pregnancy.

Her normal health is very fine, no thyroid, sugar or pressure... and periodic cycle was also 28 days.

Kindly provide me the best answer, eventhough you had...
Much obliged....

Dear Mam'

Thank you so much...
Today we had consulted a gynec, she told to have a blood, urine and ultra sound test. Everything is normal in blood and urine test.

In ultra sound OBSTETRIC scan, the report says:
Intrautterine gestational sac seen
Mean sac diameter 9.4mm corresponding to 5 week 5 days
No embriyo see, no cardiac activity
sac is regular
decidual reaction - good
no e/o sub- chorionic hematoma noted

utreus is anteverted. no focal mass lesion noted
cervix is normal in length, internal OS is closed
bith ovaries are normal, no adnexal mass noted
no free fluid in cul-de-sac

The above mentioned is the statement in the report, kindly explain me the terms used in the report and its meaning

More over I was upset seeing "no embroyo, no cardiac activity" in the report, but the doctor says in week 5, there will only be sac development. also adsviced a scan after 3 weeks.

Kindly advice abut the report and my concern.

Much obliged.

Brief Answer:
Normal ultrasound

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, it is the fact that the embryo is seen in a transabdominal ultrasound after6 weeks.
Therefore, there is nothing to worry and get a repeat scan in 2-3 weeks.
Rest all the report is absolutely normal.
