How Long Does A Swollen Knee Take To Heal When Diagnosed With Osteoarthritis?

default
Posted on Mon, 12 Oct 2015
Question: I have had internal bleeding in knee from a minor injury. Probably aggravated by the coumadin I take!
The joint was aspirated, but remains swollen (not painful) after a few weeks. How long does it take for the blood to be reabsorbed so I can walk normally again? One complication is some osteoarthritis there, but
usually that makes no problem for me (age, 80Years).
Thanks, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
MANY FACTOR RESPONSIBLE

Detailed Answer:
Hi
There are many factors responsible for blood absorption.... age, your activity level, temperature, drugs like coumadin etc. so in your case, it is difficult to predict for the blood to absorb.
Considering your age and other factors, it will take around 2 or more months. So if it has been around 1 month then it will take 3-4 weeks more for you to walk normally.
I advise you to do ice fomentation and avoid rigorous activities

Hope this will help

Take care
