Question: My son 8 months old is suffering from fever (> 100 C) , high cough. I have tried medicines Crocin 0.6 ml (2 times - gap of 4 hours) and Timinic drops but there is not much relief. Please suggest can I give him Suspension Ibugesic 2.5 ml along with nebulization 0.31 mg (3 times a day). Will nebulization help in clearing cough, I will visit doctor later in a day if he do not get relief.

Hi...I understand your concern. I need more information. I have a few questions for you. Please get back with answers so that I can guide you better.

Questions -

1. What is the kid's weight now (because all drugs in kids are weight based)?

2. Which day of fever is this?

3. Is the kid breathless?

4. How is the kid feeding...is he feeding less due to fast breathing and breathlessness?

5. Did he have any wheezing episodes in the past and receive nebulization in the past....if so how frequently?

1. What is the kid's weight now (because all drugs in kids are weight based)?
5.2 Kg

2. Which day of fever is this?
I guess fever is due to teeth growing since 1 day. The problem is cough and I guess fever is linked to it.

3. Is the kid breathless?
Breathing is okay

4. How is the kid feeding...is he feeding less due to fast breathing and breathlessness?
Feeding is okay.

5. Did he have any wheezing episodes in the past and receive nebulization in the past....if so how frequently?
In past he has received same meditation nebulization around two months back for similar issue, he had cough and it was prescribed by doc.

Brief Answer:
Suggestions on cough and fever

Detailed Answer:
Hi... I have gone through your replies.

I have gone through your past history in my previous query where there is a congenital airway anomaly.

Suggestions -

1. You can give Syrup Ibugesic (100mg/5ml) at 2.5ml thrice a day if fever is more than 100F. But this is a prescription drug and you will need a doctor's prescription for it.

2. You can nebulize with Ipravent nuebulizer solution every 4th or 6th hourly depending on the cough severity.
