How Can Chronic Cough In An Elderly Person Be Treated?

Question: 70 year old grandfather.. with 2-7 year olds 2 days a week. Have had several "colds" leaving coughing
for month or two. Currently getting over summer cold (two weeks) still having yellow discharge during
day. No other symptems... No history of algeries...

I can understand your concern

I read the history and i would strongly recommend him to be examined further for this chronic cough from a specialist (pulmonologist).
If he were my patient i will start with the following tests and examinations:

Chest x ray
Hemogram
CRP
Spirometry test with b/dilatators
Microscopic examination of the sputum (phlegm)
PPD test

After having the results the pulmonologist will decide about the right treatment and follow up.

Or you can attach me the results and we will discuss again for the further treatment.

Please discuss with his doctor for the above
