Question: 4 years ago I had a gastric bypass and it went well but during the last 6 months I have founds my weight coming back as I have reverted back to my old eating habits which is stress related and basically comfort eating. Is there any way that you can recommend to get me back on track? I live in Jersey, Channel Islands, British Isles

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

It is unfortunate that you regained the lost weight due to over eating.

I have seen this happen in several of my patients too.

As you have said, diet control is the most important. So, your diet should be free of sweets/sugar, with low fat and low cholesterol content.

In addition, regular exercises as much as possible would also ensure weight loss.

Weight loss produced by diet control and regular exercises is long lasting.

Also, please aim for a gradual weight loss such as 1-2 kg per month.

Management of stress is also important so as to avoid overeating.

I hope it helps. Please get back if you have any more queries.

Best wishes,
