Hi Doc, My Sister-in-law Is Blessed With A Baby Girl

Question: Hi Doc,

My sister-in-law is blessed with a baby girl on April 29th and the baby is recently diagnosed with jaundice , please see attached reports. She couldn't breastfeed her baby for first day or two since there was no milk for her to breastfeed. However things have changed now and back on track. Doctors post diagnosis told her to stay at home and said they will admit the baby to hospital if it is actually required after a day or two as they want to monitor the situation for a while. We just want to have a second opinion based on the attached reports. Is this all normal? Should we take the baby immediately to hospital? Please advise.

Brief Answer:
May need Phototherapy

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
I have seen the attached reports.
It looks like baby has high bilirubin levels. The test may be repeated if taken 24 hours back.
Phototherapy may be needed if the repeat value shows a rise in value.
Nothing alarming, but definitely take to hospital for test and recheck once.
Phototherapy can be given only in a hospital.
