What Causes Late Periods, constipation And Morning Sickness?

default
Posted on Sat, 4 Oct 2014
Question: Hello, not sure what's going on with my body but I have common pregnancy symptoms(other than constipation and morning sickness). My period was due a day ago, when i took a test I was neg and I thought I was just having common PMS symptoms... until last night... each time I urinated it felt like I couldn't get all the urine out. Then twice today I have felt more sick and there has been very small like blood discharge/tissue with a bit of pink coloring when I have urinated. Could this be implantation or maybe an Urinary Tract Infection? Thank you

Brief Answer:
Urine infection likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Your periods are overdue just by one day. You are unlikely to get a positive urine test even if you are pregnant.
The symptoms of incomplete urination are likely to be due to a urinary tract infection. It is best to get a routine urine examination done and find out.
These infections are common in women and are easily treatable. The treatment of this would involve the following:
a. Drink plenty of fluids
b. Cranberry juice has been shown to be useful in fighting this infection.
c. You can take a urine alkalinizing agent like disodium hydrogen citrate
d. You would also need a course of antibiotics like ciprofloxacin. However, it would be best if we get a urine culture and sensitivity done in order to identify the bacterium and know which antibiotic it is susceptible to.
Since these are prescription drugs, I would suggest you see your physician for the same. With this treatment, I think you should be good in about 1 week.
Wait for your periods for 4-5 days more and test the urine again for pregnancy if the periods do not come.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
