Question: Hello,

I am trying to look my hair care. I was in touch with Dr. Kakkar but unfortunately that discussion got closed. Kindly advise on the next steps. I used to have long curly hair. I am suffering from PCOS along with pre diabetic and gallbladder bladder issue. So I couldn't comb my hair and there was tangles. I had to cut some tangles now I have less hair since I have lost many. Is there any way I can grow more hair and keep my hair strong.

Brief Answer:
About hair loss;

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
Hotmonal imbalance caused by PCOS can cause hair loss but you should check iron level and thyroid function before blaming pcos.
The correction of anemia or the correction of thyroid hormone levels will improve the hair loss.
So, i would suggest to check TSH, ferritin and attach the results.
If they result within the normal ranges i would suggedt minoxidil foam.
Hope the information will help.
Best wishes,

Doctor,

Thank you for your response. I will have to check with my PCP to do those tests. I have one question is there any chances I can grow more hair just like it was earlier and even stronger this time.

Thanks & Regards,

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
It depends on the cause. If it is due to low iron levels, once it is corrected the hair can get back to the previous situation.
The hormonal causes are more difficult to be corrected.
