Having Recurring Fever, Itchy Throat And Runny Nose. Take Odoxit And Lemolinctus. Malaria And Dengue Negative
Question: I'm running fever for the past three days back. On 7th night, I started feeling my throat itchy. On 8th by 12pm high fever (did not measure by must be atleast 101 and above) started. I had Odoxil tablet and Lemolinctus syrup. I had fever in the night to which I took crocin. On 9th, the fever was there. My throat itchiness had cleared but I had a running nose. The fever was higher now (measured 102). I kept having Lemolinctus syrup, did steam inhalation. At night, I had Odoxil again with multivitamins. At night, when I felt high fever, I had Meftal 500 tablet. Today morning I woke up with no fever but it started by afternoon. The running nose had stopped but either nostril is blocked and feeling congestion in the chest. I did not take any tablets today but kept taking Lemolinctus syrup. The fever is recurring every 3-4 hours. What do I do? I took Malaria and Dengue tests yesterday and the results are negative. CBC report shows ok on most except Esonophils (6.5%) Monocytes (10.5%) and Lymphocytes (17) are indicated higher. My weight is 80+ and have slightly higher BP. Last measured (last week) was 95 on the lower reading

You have fever since last three days and itchiness in throat. Fever was of moderate to high grade. You started taking Cefadroxil tablets and lemolinctus cough syrup. For fever you took Crocin initially and later Meftalspas. Presently fever is persisting and you have nasal congestion and chest tightness. Your blood reports are normal except high eosinophil count.
Now coming to management-
Continue taking Cefadroxil as you are taking and complete 5 day course.
If there is relief in cough then stop taking Lemolinctus because it causes sedation and it may cause dependence.
For fever take Crocin DS (650) and avoid other drugs, if fever doesn't subside with Crocin you can repeat its dosing. You can take 3-4 tablets a day if needed. It is a safe drug and good antipyretic.
For nasal congestion and chest tightness you can take Benadryl tablets. Take the tablet in night and take it for at least 5 days. You have high eosinophil count so most likely the symptoms presently are due to allergic bronchitis. Use steam inhalations for quick clearance of nasal secretions.
As fever is persisting so use cold compresses or ice packs on body to decrease temperature. There is no need to worry as your Dengue serology and Malaria came normal, its due to allergy mixed with viral infection, and you will be alright in next 2 days.
