Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this swallowing difficulties and the big hernia you have.

From the information you have provided, the white spots at the back of the mouth an throughout the mouth associated with difficulties in swallowing is high suggestive of oro-esophageal candidiasis(fungal infection). Though you may have acid reflux disease, these white spots are not and never related to acid reflux disease. The next big question is to find out whether there is any condition that makes your immune status weak since this disease is common in immunodepressed patients like those having AIDS caused by HIV, medications, cancer treatment, Diabetes etc.

Gaviscon is great for acid reflux disease. it will not help in this context because it is something else. The treatment of this condition requires oral fluconazole syrup. I will suggest at this point that you XXXXXXX and discuss this possibility with your physician who would confirm the above diagnosis and probably provide you with the appropriate dose for your weight.

Definitely, eating well in the period leading up to your surgery is very important. That is why I will advice that you get this evaluated and sorted out as soon as possible so that your can regain your oral drinking and eating to be better prepared for this procedure.

I wish you the very best of outcomes with this upcoming surgery. I hope you find this answer helpful, informative and addresses your query fully. If there are any specific follow up questions you have, please fell free to post them and I shall address them happily. Above all, I wish you a great health.
