Posted on Wed, 22 May 2013
Question: Hi,
My name is XXXXXX. I've taken psilobin mushrooms some time ago, and since I've been feeling a bit remote from reality and ppl. I get into thoughts and find it hard to concentrate.
From looking in XXXXXXX Medica I've found the homeopathic remedy Psilocybe Careulescens that describe the symptoms I have.
My question is, is it safe to take this remedy? if yes, in what dose would you recommend that I take it? I feel like it can help me get over those symptoms.
What do u think?
Thanks so much and have a great day (or night, I don't know where you are in the world..)

Hi,

Thanks for contacting me.

Before answering your question I would like to give a brief about preparation and symptomatology of homeopathic remedy. Homeopathic medicines are prepared from all sources like plants, animals source, from poisons, inert substances, minerals, diseased products, from endocrine glands, etc. The therapeutic properties of the original substance will not be identical to the therapeutic properties after it potentised. For example the remedy silicea is prepared from sand. But at its crude form it is inert with no therapeutic property; but after a series of potentisation it develops many therapeutic properties.

Further in homeopathy the remedies are only selected based on the totality of symptoms - that constitute common clinical sign and symptom and the individualised uncommon characteristic symptoms from physical, mental, and intellectual level. Beside that the dose and potency depends upon the totality of symptoms, types of disease, chronic nature of disease, the stage of disease, the parts affected, the pathological extension, the intensity of symptoms, the susceptibility of the patient, the miasmatic back ground of the patient, the diathesis of the patient, etc. Without an opportunity to physical evaluate you, it is highly inappropriate to specify the drug and it's doses.

Therefore for better and effective results, it would be worthwhile visiting a qualified homeopath and religiously follow the advice.

Hope this suggestion is helpful. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards

First, thank you for your lengthy reply.

I am familiar with the basic of homepathy, I've went to homeopaths before and I do understand the complexity of any case, yet I do appreciate your brief explanation.

Perhaps my question was, whether to take it in a low potency and work my way up, or should I take what seems to be the most suited for the situation.

Again, I do know that this is not the proper way of administering a drug, but based on my precious experiences, sometime the patient knows best...

Thank you once again, and good to hear for you.

Hi!
Thanks for contacting me again

As I have mentioned in my previous reply the selection of remedies is purely based on totality of symptoms and if your totality of symptom covering the remedy Psilocybe careulescens then it can be taken otherwise not. But that need to be re-evaluated under the supervision of a qualified and experienced homeopathy doctor.

Regarding the potency and dose that depends upon the types of disease, stage of disease, pathological extension of disease, site of disease, age factor, susceptibility of the patient etc. A person with higher susceptibility like children, intellectual mass, less or no addiction of nicotine or caffeine or alcohol, sedentary person or physically less active person, symptoms of mental illness, diseases on dynamic plane, less or no pathological extension, a well selected remedy etc require a higher potency above 200C with infrequent dose. A person with less susceptibility like young or adult age group, persons who do more laborious work than intellectual work, addiction of various stimulants, more pathological extensions, symptoms of more physical related than mental aspect etc are required lower potency below 200C.

Hope this will help you to find your answer.
Thank you once again.
