Brief Answer: Sperm count is decreased and motility is decreased Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX Labratory and clinical tests have shown that long term and even short term use of narcotics was associated with a decrease in sperm count and motility. The studies have never been done with codeine in particular, but since it belongs to the same class of drugs it is reasonable to assume that Codeine would have the same effect. The best and most efficient way to know what has happened to your fertility while on this drug regime is to head to a fertility clinic and give them a sample for analysis. That will be proof positive of the effects at the current time. More than your sperm count though, I would be more worried about your liver and general health. Long term use of narcotics can destroy the liver and you are doing yourself no favors by combining that with alcohol use. May I ask why you need to take such large amounts of opiates? Is it a pain issue? Maybe it can be addressed better and we can get you off of the stuff. Sound fair? I hope this helps. Feel free to follow-up whenever you want. Brief Answer: IVF should be the way to go Detailed Answer: Hello, XXXXXXX I have looked at the report. It looks like it would be very difficult to conceive in the traditional method. But do not panic. IVF should help you and your wife conceive as what they will do is select the best sperm from a sample and attempt to create the embryo in the lab itself. It is a very successful technology that has helped many thousands of people now. It may take a few attempts. But it should eventually work. Take Care,

Brief Answer: Healthy Habits, Better chances Detailed Answer: XXXXXXX the healthier the habits, the higher the chances of success. The supplements will improve the quality of the semen and help with motility to some extent. So take the supplements. Regular cardiovascular exercise will also hep in sperm production. A healthy diet with plenty of vitamins and minerals will also help in the long run. as far as abnormalities, we do ultrasounds at regular intervals of the pregnancy to look for such things. So the risks should be minimal. So overall, you are on the right track. My best wishes to you. Vinay
