Does Prostatic Hyperplasia Need Medical Attention?

default
Posted on Wed, 26 Oct 2016
Question: I am 58yo male, 69kg, 177cm, BMI 22.2. No medications. I do suffer from Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy, currently untreated. I have confirmed ventricular ectopics
What is the likelihood that a hiatus hernia, untreated, is stimulating the vagus and generating a bradycardic input to the myocardium, thus allowing ectopics through?

Brief Answer:
BPH needs management, Hernia needs repair, ectopics need care

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Benign prostatic hyperplasia needs medicine supportive care with alpha blockers and alpha reductase inhibitors. If need be , minimally surgically invasive procedures can be planned.

As far as ventricular ectopic beats are concerned, those need to be assessed and evaluated for severity. Up to six ectopic in one lead are acceptable , if less than that then no worries. If more you will need ablation and pharmacological support with antiarrhythmics.

As far as hiatal hernia is concerned, yes if the hernia is sliding and severe it can cause ectopic beats and trigger already ectopic foci in heart.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
