Does Orchidometer Give Correct Information About Testicle's Size?

Question: Hi I just had a n endocrinologist appointment and my doctor said my testicles were small. He said they were 8ml bilaterlly but he didnt measure them using an orchidometer or calipers. I have compared my testicles to an orchidometer and it usually compares somewhere between 15 and 20 ML. I understand that an orchidometer can overestimate the size a little bit but this doesn't seem to make sense to me. Any chance he is just flat out wrong?

If the Doctor has not used any Orchidometer / ultrasonography, He may be wrong as you said.
Did you get the Orchidometer?

The best way will be the ultrasonography and Color Doppler examination to determine not only the size/ volume but also to get an idea if there is any other problem with the testes.

Yes I purchased the orchidometer from the Endocrine society online (http://www.endocrine.org/) But I also checked the dimensions to some of the printable ones online. I went because of a blood test with low testosterone. He told me that I didn't have any of the symptoms or the look of someone with low testosterone and told me he was about to send me home with nothing but with this diagnosis of small testicles I need to run all these other tests. Obviously if there is something wrong then I want to find out what it is, but it seemed a bit odd to me. I also wonder if maybe its possible for ME to be using the orchidometer wrong? That also would not make much sense but I am open to anything.

It is alright that you purchased the Orchidometer and great to know that you checked with printable ones online.

Orchidometer gives an idea, better would be ultrasonography and color doppler as it will give the exact volume as well as information about the testes.
Have you consulted the Urologist? Please give feedback . ( or you already had a consultation and wrote his opinion above ).

Have got your semen analysis done ?
Why was testosterone test done ?

Thank you for the answers. The endocronologist got back to me and told me that he was very impressed. He said odds are the orchidometer is right. He said he stopped because people where uncomfortable with them and that he had learn to trust himself after many years as a doctor but now he wants to re-evaluate. I guess he will re-check them when I have my follow up appointment after the blood tests come in. Thanks again for your help

I had my T checked because i have longering gynecomastia from puberty. That being said I do not have most of the other symptoms like ED, chronic fatigue etc. I generally feel pretty good. .

Let us hope to get more the moment he re-evaluates your case on the physical examination and the tests that have been done.

Your only problem at the moment is Gynecomastia and low testosterone which was done to diagnose the cause.
I hope you have undergone the examination for Gyecomastia and got it confirmed to be Gynecomastia and not mere a pad of fat.
Have considered its surgery, whether needed or not.
