Brief Answer:
Ciprofloxacin and magnesium

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are wondering how much depletion of magnesium occurs while taking ciprofoxacin. The mechanism for loss of magnesium is through chelation and the true amount is enough to measure in routine blood testing. The real danger is the minute amount of magnesium loss in the muscles and tendons. This can result in damage to teh tendon and possible rupture of tendons. This can occur to elderly patients and young patients. To help reduce the risk of tendonitis is to take supplements of magnesium. There are no studies to determine the amount of magnesium to take to ward off tendonitis. I would recommend magnesium citrate 200 mg once to twice daily.

Brief Answer:
2 weeks

Detailed Answer:
I would 2 weeks on the magnesium replacement. The Omega 3 can be lifetime. Omega 3 helps lower cholesterol and improves heart health. The Iron I would recommend 2-3 months as it takes longer to absorb and incorporate into bone marrow stores
