Does Intake Of Alprazolam Result In Cognitive Impairment?

Question: I suffer from general anxiety disorder and have been prescribed Alprazolam for situational anxiety. My coping mechanisms have been relatively effective so have not yet taken any however I will be taking some when my wife delivers our baby. Will taking this drug effect my ability to make decisions?

Does Alprazolam affect decision making/judgement?

Short-term use of alprazolam is not associated with cognitive impairment. You will be able to take this medication safely without any impairment in your judgement or decision-making. Long-term (months to years) use of this medication can indeed cause cognitive problems. But this will not be the case for you!
