Does Atrial Fibrillation Recur After A Catheter Ablation?

default
Posted on Tue, 16 Feb 2016
Question: I have a history of A-fib. I have had one ablation for tachacardia and one for a-fib. Now I have bigeminy which
has lasted for two days so far. Will the a-fib come back? Should i have another echo to see if my heart is
damaged? Will another ablation help stop the bigeminy? I am also on diltiazem. Also, the a-fib has returned
since the last ablation. I appreciate your answers.

Brief Answer:
There is a need for Holter monitoring and serum electrolyte check

Detailed Answer:
Dear Mrs,

It is not mandatory that A-fib will return if you have bigiminy. Don't worry so much.
The only advise I would give you is to have an ECG holter monitoring done and check serum electrolytes. Holter monitoring will show the exact duration of bigiminy and the number of arrhythmias, which will help for further treatment corrections. And some electrolyte disbalance, such as low serum potassium level, can trigger the arrhythmias.
These two examinations will give answers to many questions.

Hope I could help you
