Does Anal Sex Cause Constipation?

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Nov 2015
Question: A couple of years ago my wife had problems for about 6 months with re-occurring hemorrhoids and ongoing constipation issues along with a bartholin cyst. My question for the doctor is could the constipation and hemorrhoids issue have been from having anal sex? And also could the bartholin cyst have been connected to having had anal sex, multiple partners or any kind of sexually related issues?

Brief Answer:
Yes,no

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome. Hemorrhoids can definitely be related to anal sex, constipation as well, especially in young people as you are. Bartolini cyst however is not sexually transmitted disease and this is actually inflammation of subcutaneous gland in genital area. However, some std may be similar to to bartolini such as syphilis which is rare today. I suggest to apply antihemorhoid ointment, have sitz baths and avoid anal sex for 2 months.if there is no improvement, surgical repair may be considered. Wish you good health. Regards
