Question: Could a hot bath just before bed cause a fast heart beat that feels like your heart is going to come out of your chest?

Thanks for the query.

No, generally bath should not cause any change in heart beat.

But if you take very hot water bath in warm or hot environment to the extent you feel uncomfortable than there may be a slight increase in your heart beat but not like the palpitations.

The reason in your case could be anxiety, underlying cardiac arrhythmias.

Please consult a cardiologist and get an Electrocardiogram(EKG) done.
