Does A BP Of 158/80 Or 163/89 Indicative Of High BP?

Question: I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure as a 30yo male. I have been on valsartan 80mg for a little over a month. My normal resting BP is now between 115/65-128/75. Every once in a while I will get a resting reading in the 130s. My question is sometimes I will check it when I get to my truck at lunch break I'm a commercial Roofing superintendent , or right after coming in from working in the yard and it will be 158-163/80-89. Is this too high of an active BP or normal

Brief Answer:
checking it too soon

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Yes, this would be regarded as high but blood pressure is not be checked under these circumstances.

There are preparations a person is to make before checking the blood pressure including the following: (1) no exercising or intense physical activity in the preceding 30 mins
(2)should be calmly seated for at least 5 mins before checking
(3)empty bladder and bowel
(4)no coffee, smoking, food and decongestant in the previous hour
(5)calm, warm environment

This means that checking right after coming in from outside working may give a falsely high reading

You would need to wait at least 30 mins, with at least 5 of these minutes spent sitting.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
