Posted on Sat, 14 May 2016
Question: I currently take 300 mg of lyrica and Lasix for chronic edema in my legs. I also have osteo arthritis which affects my joints. Due to an accident, I have lost the lymphatic tissue in my right leg. My question is can voltaren help me and get me off the other meds I take for this inflammation and pain?

Brief Answer:
VOLTAREN CAN'T BE A REPLACEMENT FOR LYRICA AND LASIX

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to health care magic, I share your concern and I will try to help you out in best possible way.

Voltaren (diclofenac) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Diclofenac works by reducing substances in the body that cause pain and inflammation. Whereas
Lyrica (pregabalin) is a drug, which affects chemicals in the brain that send pain signals across the nervous system which is used to control seizures and to treat fibromyalgia.. And
Lasix (furosemide) is a loop diuretic that prevents your body from absorbing too much salt, allowing the salt to instead be passed in your urine. Lasix treats fluid retention (edema) in people with congestive heart failure, liver disease, or a kidney disorder such as nephrotic syndrome.
Hence voltaren can't be a replacement for above two drugs as they both as explained above have different actions and target tissues.
If you are suffering from severe pain due to osteoarthritis, then I recommend you to ask for voltaren in your next doctor visit.
I hope this helps you.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for me, so that I get a good feedback.
