Does Sandoz Cause Dizziness And Lightheadedness?

default
Posted on Mon, 10 Nov 2014
Question: I have been taking Mylan brand Bisoprolol-HCTZ 10-6.25 mg. tab (generic for Ziac) for about 10 years and now I just had my prescription refilled and they gave me Sandoz brand of the medicine. I took it today and I feel different kind of dizzy and lightheaded. I called the pharmacist and he said both companies have the same major ingredients but they may use different fillers. Do you think the change in the manufacture version of the drug can bother me if they use different fillers? My sinuses are burning and I feel lightheaded.

Brief Answer:
slight differences

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Drugs manufactured by different companies have slight differences.

The main ingredients, mode of action, metabolism and excretion of the drug are essentially the same . There may , however be slight differences in manufacturing techniques and inactive ingredients, this may cause small changes in side effect profile.

If you continue to feel this way then you may need to speak to your local pharmacist to find out when the meds that you can tolerate would be available.

I hope this helps

Brief Answer:
it would depend

Detailed Answer:
HI

If it would be difficult to get back to the pharmacy today to get the other brand then yes, you can use the sandoz for today.

If you would be able to make it to the pharmacy to get it this afternoon then you can hold off taking the mylan and wait till you get the other medications and take it then.

please feel free to ask any other questions
