Does Regestrone Affect UPT Test Results?
Question: uphello... my LMP was 24 sept 2014. i had to attend a occation on 22-23 oct 2014. So took regestrone from 14 oct till 23 oct. then stopped it. i m yet to get my periods and today my UPT turned out to be positive... what is it. M i pregnant or is regestrone interfearing with the test. pls answer my question asap

UPT depends on detection of a beta HCG in urine.
Regestrone/progesterone will not interfere with this test.
UPT has a very high specificity,approaching 99%.So with a possitive test,pregnancy is almost sure.
Anyhow,for the time being,you can repeat the test once.

should i go for beta hcg test or it is confirm by UPT..

Serum beta HCG test is not at all needed for confirmation(this is costly also).
As I told,you can repeat UPT itself once more.UPT is a test with high sensitivity and specificity.
