Does Prozac Help Cure Anxiety?

Question: I have just started taking Prozac but need something for relief of anxiety until it takes effect- do you have any suggestions? I have amitryptyline but not sure

I am so sorry to hear about this anxiety. True it takes sometime before prozac starts to work effectively. Clonazepam is a good drug for rapid relief of anxiety and would be able to cover this window interval until prozac kicks in. However, clonazepam can only be obtained through your treating physician as it cannot be served over the counter. I will suggest you talk back to him. Amitryptyline is not a good drug for this and I will not recommend you take it at this time because it will not be of any added advantage.
