Question: What are possible drug interactions between Propionyl L-carnitine, L-Arginine with metroprolol succinate, omeprazole and lumigan, please

Interested in non-prescription ways to treat erectile dysfunction. Beginning a serious anti-inflammatory diet.

Are there any non-prescription methods that would not be recommended or that would interact with his medication list, please.

Not sure which type of doctor would be best, so I chose sexologist. If another would be better or as good, please feel free to make the change. I want a good and reliable answer, please.

Brief Answer:
No interaction. See discussion

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
There's no known adverse interaction between the medicines and supplements mentioned.
Metoprolol can produce ED as a side effect. If you let me know the indication for the same, I may suggest an alternative.
Non pharmacological methods do not interact with the medicines being consumed. At 82, the most likely causes are decreased blood supply and or neuropathy.

I am unable to get back to your response after I had forwarded it to my friend.
You asked question re. incidence of metoprotol, which could be cause of side effect causing ED. His response was:

"I started taking metroprotol in late 90's when they thought I had blockage in my vein. My system had created a way around and everything was okay. The doctor prescribed the medicine (metoprotol) as a preventive. Since then no other doctor has ever mentioned them, plus the heart specialist who started them dismissed me a couple of years later as no longer needing to seew him. I know up until 2004 I had no ED and feel that it has occurred since my wife died. Theory -could continue taking and see or just quit. I don't know what to ask. I moved 6 months ago and have no doctor right now."{

What do you advise, doctor? Should he just stop the metoprotol, or go to a different preventive prescription? Please advise, as a new relationship has developed, and an answer and positive conclusion would be most helpful.

Started taking metoprotol in late 90s when they thought there was blockage in veins. System had created a way around and everything was ok. RX prescribed as preventive. No other dr. has mentioned Rx since then and the heart specialist who prescribed them dismissed .. a couple of years later as no longer needing to see him. Until 2004 Had no ED and feel it has occurred since death of his wife. Has moved in the last 6 months and does not have a regular doctor. Should he stop taking the metoprotol or change to another preventive. Involved in a new relationship and positive resolution would be helpful.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.
Please let me know his usual blood pressure and heart rate and upload a recent EKG. Beta-blocker has a preventive role if he had a heart attack.
The other causes like blood flow to the penis and the functioning of his autonomic nervous system are important for having a good erection. A urologist/ XXXXXXX would be the most appropriate doctor to examine and assess him. Psychological factors are also very important and may be the main cause in him and is related to his wife's demise. If so when he has a very understanding, supportive and encouraging partner , he might regain his normalcy.
Best wishes,
