Brief Answer:
It may cause some of your symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

You haven't provided any information about your medical history so I assume you only have arterial hypertension. Norvasc has several potential side effects but is usually well tolerated.

One common side effect that leads sometimes to discontinuation of the treatment is ankle edema. This is particularly affecting women - the older first - and is aggravated by upright posture. Higher doses cause edema more often. It is usually bilateral.

The symptom of 'chest pressure' is not common with norvasc. It actually helps people with coronary artery disease experience less of it. It can cause a higher heart rate or arrhythmia though. If you feel palpitations then it could be norvasc.

There are ways to treat the edema without stopping the treatment or switching to another medication (taking it at night, adding an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor if not contraindicated etc).

I suggest you discuss your problems with your doctor particularly the 'chest pressure' thing because it could be serious. The ankle edema is usually benign although serious diagnoses are possible (like deep vein thrombosis).

If you need further clarifications on the subject, I'll be glad to provide them for you.
Kind Regards!

Thank you. A few days ago I was put on celexa for an anxiety disorder 10mg and 7.5mg of restoril to help with sleep. Today I feel weak, lack of concentration. Could norvasc and these two drugs have interactions?

Brief Answer:
I don't think it's norvasc...

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Although norvasc (and other antihypertensive medications) may indeed cause any of the symptoms you've mentioned (particularly if your blood pressure drops really low), I don't quite believe it has in your case. The other drugs you mentioned (celexa and restoril) are much more likely to cause weakness and lack of concentration. Restoril causes sleepiness and even after the patient wakes up, it can still cause weakness and other nervous system dysfunction like confusion, lack of concentration etc.

There are no significant interactions with norvasc.

I hope I've addressed your concerns!
Should you need further information, please let me know.
Kind Regards!
