Posted on Wed, 8 Jun 2016
Question: I am concerned about drug interactions. I am presently taking: butalbitol, alprazolam (7.5 mg), hydroxyzine (200mg) and lisiniprol. I've had some very odd symptoms lately and I am concerned about the length of time I have been on these medications. I am also an insulin dependent diabetic.

Alprazolam is 0.75 mg (not 7.5. sorry)
hydroxyzine 50mg 4 Xdaily
Butal/Acet/Caff 80mg at night
Lisinoprol

Brief Answer:
possible interactions

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

There is a risk of interactions with some of the medications that you are currently using.

The butalbital will decrease the effect of the alprazolam by affecting its breakdown. It can increase its breakdown, this means it can cause the alprazolam to have a decreased sedative effect.

Alprazolam, hydroxyzine and actually also the butabital can all cause sedation so may make you very drowsy.

Dizziness and confusion may also occur

If you are experiencing specific symptoms and wish to determine if they are possible side effects of any of these meds, feel free to mention the symptoms in a follow up so that this can be checked.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask anything else

I had two episodes of fainting. When I went to the doctor, my heart rate was 47. I was referred to a cardiologist and we are evaluating things from there.

I was recently sick and have been taking a cough suppressant that seems to amplify all the symptoms I've recently noticed: mild shaking, cold sweats, very tired.

I am also having some memory problems and forgetfulness. I began to look at the medications' interactions when things started getting worse.

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
can be related to medication

Detailed Answer:
HI

Most cough suppressants contain antihistamines which can also potentially be associated with dizziness and drowsiness-- the fatigue

The combination tablet (but/acet/caff) can be associated with the jittery sensation that you mentioned, hydroxyzine can also cause a nervous sensation. The memory deficits may also be due to this medication
(but/acet/caff).
Alprazolam can cause confusion and difficulty with concentration.

If anything else unclear, can feel free to ask
