Does Furosemide Interact With Klor-Con?

Question: My husbands Dr. called and wants him to take 4 Klor-Con tablets daily for 1 week at 2/Am 2/Pm. My husband is also on Furosemide. Is this safe for him? He wasn't told why, just the nurse called us and said that is what the doctor wants him to take. Then second week to take 1AM 1Pm

Most likely your husband's potassium level is decreased. This was most likely determined on a recent laboratory evaluation. Furosemide is a very good diuretic but can cause a decrease in potassium levels.

From the directions your doctor has given you I suspected he wants to replenish your husband's potassium level this week with the higherdose and then decreased to a lower maintenance dose to keep his potassium level in a good range.

I trust that your doctor has calculated the amount of increase potassium level that your husband needs and he will spread that over this week with the increased dose. This is generally regarded as safe in the setting of low potassium levels.if you have further detailed questions I would recommend that you touch base with his physician for additional instructions.
