Does Actigall Interact With Coumadin?

default
Posted on Tue, 27 Jun 2017
Question: My bariatric surgeon prescribed Actigall because I am experiencing bile reflux, diagnosed by endoscopy. I am experiencing difficulty with maintaining my Coumadin levels and now have to take markedly increased dosages of Coumadin. I am also experiencing almost constant abdominal pain, difficulty in eating (more pronounced than after my surgery. Could Actigall account for the need for the increased dosage of Coumadin, and other symptoms I have mentioned before.

Brief Answer:
Actigall acts on dissolving gall bladder stone(contains urodeoxycholic acid

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for choosing HealthcareMagic for your query.
Have gone through your details and i appreciate your concerns.

Warfarin is produced by liver.Production of warfarin is not related to gallbladder. The medicine you are taking is urodioxycholic acid which dissolves gallstone but has no direct effect on functions of liver.
So answer to your question is no Actigall has no direct effevt on level of Coumadin(Warfarin).
You should get your liver functions test done intially with ultrasound abdomen to rule out problem with liver and its functions.
Follow up with reports.
Hope i answered your query well.
Thanks!
