Brief Answer:
Betablockers decrease the muscular performance and cause chronic fatigue.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your question, I would would like to confirm this adverse effect of beta blockers.

They are known for their adverse effect of lowering the muscular performance and lead to chronic fatigue.

Beta blockers relieve stress on your heart by slowing the heartbeat. This decreases the force with which the heart muscle contracts and reduces blood vessel contraction in the heart, brain and throughout the body.

The same effect is achieved on the heart (a lower basal heart rate) in athletes by regular physical exercise.

Athletes are known to have a mean basal heart rate lower than other persons. Betablockers can reduce even more this heart rate, leading to a lower cardiac output.

This is why they are not very indicated in active athletes.

Hope to have been helpful!
