Could Probiotic Cause Hemorrhoids?

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Jan 2017
Question: Does taking probiotics cause hemoriods? Had hemoriods when I was pregnant years ago and maybe once a year since. I just started noticing bright red blood with bowl movements this week, and started taking probiotics 30 days ago. I thought probiotics would improve the quantity of bowl movements (which usually happen twice a week for me), but they have not. No change in diet or anything. Maybe Im not drinking enough water?

Brief Answer:
Probiotics cannot cause Hemorrhoids!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Probiotics cannot cause hemorrhoids. This is more of a coincidence than probiotics being a cause of hemorrhoids. I will suggest that you increase your fruits, fluids and vegetables intake. Fibers can be of added help as well in making the stools lighter and more easy when you go to stool. Also, you may want to take Tylenol for pains and maybe anti-hemorrhoids suppository.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
