Question: Hi, is it ok to take proponolol and Viagra together at the same time? I take proponolol for presentations to settle my blood pressure down due to anxiety and I take Viagra for psychological performance anxiety erectile dysfunction. Please let me know.

Brief Answer: can be used but monitor Detailed Answer: Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic Viagra belongs to the family of drugs that cause the blood vessels and smooth muscles in the genitalia to relax. They use a chemical called nitric oxide to help with the relaxation. The only medications that are definitely not allowed with viagra are nitrates (similar to nitric oxide) because viagra increases the blood pressure effect of these medications. Propanolol can be used with viagra but there is a risk of interaction. Propanolol increases the effect or the levels of viagra because it reduces the ability of the liver to clear the viagra out of the body. Summary: Can be used but have to bear in mind that propanolo will increase the effect of viagra I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Thank you for this answer. So in summary, The proponolol will increase the effect of the Viagra making a small amount of Viagra more potent. This could cause priapism or what could the side effect be? I take the proponolol before sex to settle my anxiety down and the Viagra to help me aide in an erection. Does this make sense to try without any serious side effects? Does my logic make sense?

Brief Answer: your logic makes sense Detailed Answer: HI Sorry about the late response Yes, propanolol would affect the break down of the viagra thereby increasing its levels and its effects. This may or may not have a significant effect on you. It would depend on the dose of viagra that you are using. If you are using the highest dose of 100mg , there is an increased chance of side effects. If you are using one of the lower doses of 25 mg or 50 mg , you may not notice any side effects. Propanolol is commonly used to help with symptoms related to anxiety. It is not unusual that you use it prior to intimacy. You can consider trying the two together, start at the lowest dose, if this dose of viagra is not effective then increase to the 50 mg dose. Please feel free to ask anything else

Hi XXXXXXX thanks again for your answer. This is helping a lot. One more question regarding this.......I know you are not supposed to drink any alcohol with any medication including Viagra but if I was to consume a small amount of alcohol, would taking the propanolol with the Viagra and the alcohol cause serious threat? thanks!!!
doctor
Answered by Dr. Michelle Gibson James (8 minutes later)
Brief Answer: can use a small amount safely Detailed Answer: Hi A small amount of alcohol should not cause any effect. If a large amount is used it has the potential to affect propanolol levels but would not have any effect on the viagra. If anything else is unclear, feel free to contact

Hi Dr. XXXXXXX Thanks again for your answers. Another question, can Uprima and Viagra be taken together at the same time? Thanks, XXXXXXX
doctor
Answered by Dr. Michelle Gibson James (42 minutes later)
Brief Answer: no known interactions Detailed Answer: Hi There are no known interactions between these two agents. Uprima has different uses, it is used for ED in some places but discontinued in the UK because it was thought to be ineffective for that particular purpose. You can use the two safely together
