Question: Can gonorrohea remain asymptomatic for over a month in men?? I dont have symptoms and i took 1gm azithromycin stat in order to cover both chalm trachomatis and gonococcus! Is monotherapy effective against gonoccocus?

Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
I will reply your queries one by one.
Both gonorrhoea and chlamydia infection can remain asymptomatic in large number of men as well as women.
Although 1 gm AZITHROMYCIN stat in single dose is the standard treatment for chlamydia infection,treatment of gonorrhoea is always done by combination of two antibiotics because of high resistance chances against a single drug.
AZITHROMYCIN in 1 gm dose is generally supplemented with either a single injection  of ceftriaxone 500 mg intramuscular or with oral tablet of oofloxacin in the dose of 400 mg ( single dose ) or with ciprofloxacin 500 mg ( single dose )
