Question: hellow doctor and thank you for checking up.just one follow up question.i have no growths inside my nose. only swollen nostrills.could it just be from the cocaine.also it does not seem to be progrresing.

Hi

Thanks for writing back and my sincere apologies for the delayed reply.

1. Swollen nostril is because of the residual inflammation of the soft tissue of the nose following prolonged cocaine use. Cocaine being a potent vasoconstrictor would have lead to accumulation of fluid in the adjacent areas. It would take a little longer time for swelling to subside as the space between the internal lining of the nose and the soft bone (cartilage) is very less. Hence, the fluid accumulation between these two layers will take longer time to clear off.

2. Potent topical antibiotic cream with a combination of steroid can help in reducing the inflammation. Continue using the saline nasal spray.
