Brief answer....explained below
Detailed answer....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
Although chances of a person getting HIV with a single episode of unprotected sex is very less but possibility does exist.
Now when to test ?
You see there is a window period of every infection.
Window period means time period between entry of infection in your body and the point where test would yield a positive result.
During window period person would be infected with HIV but would test negative for it.
This window period for HIV for the highly advanced 4th generation antigen/ antibody test is 4 weeks and at this point 95% of the HIV would be detected by it.
The accuracy becomes 99.98% if the relevant test is done at the end of 12 weeks.
Get the test done around 12-13 days from now.
I am quite sure that test would be negative and that should be enough to provide peace to you.
However whether the test is  positive or negative you can repeat the test after 12 weeks of exposure for the final confirmation because even if the test is positive ,it can still be a false positive.
Ideally a person should not marry if he is HIV positive. Marriages can be postponed on some or other pretext. no need to cancel it till it is 100% confirmed.
My advice to you is to get the first test done and then decide after it.
Come back to me after the result of 1 st test and then we can discuss further about it.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks

Hello,
I can understand your anxiety.

HIV infection can cause flu like symptoms after around 2 weeks of infection which include sore throat, fever, rash etc.
There is no way by which one can say with certainty that your throat infection is just a viral sore throat or early symptoms of HIV infection.
If you want to get tested immediately for peace of mind, then go for HIV RNA test.
You can undertake this test tomorrow itself.

Thanks

Hi doctor,

Today is 24th day from the exposure,

Today i went to hospital and have taken the test..Please review the reports doctor as i attached. result is negative only. Thanks god .and doctor said to me ,No need to take any confirmation after 3 months ( from the period of exposure). and he suggested two tablets for next 3 months , Namely 1)SHI LI capsules with goji berry extract 2) shandian ( antioxdant softgel capsules)

Should i take again test after 3 months ( from the period of exposure) ?

Sore throat infection for some other reason, not related hiv for me , correct doctor?

Kindly suggest doctor.. Thanks in advance...

Hello,
I have seen your reports and find them absolutely normal.
It is good for your mental peace that HIV test has been found to be negative.
Although your doctor has said that there is no need for a retest after 3 months, i feel it should be done to be 100% sure.
The test you underwent has 99.97% accuracy and not 100%.
So the best is to go for a retest after 3 months to be 100% sure.
Your throat infection is a viral infection and nothing else.
Continue taking the supplements advised to you.
Thanks
