Can A Muscle Strain Cause Spinal Deformity?

default
Posted on Wed, 17 Aug 2016
Question: my wife pulled a muscle in her lower back 2 days ago. We've since noticed a curvature in her lower back spine. Could this be caused by pulled muscles or is it more likely scoliosis? She's been to the chiropractor everyday since the incident.

Brief Answer:
Mostly bony spine deformity due to a fracture

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

Usually pulled muscle does not cause any spinal deformity.

It is possible that she may have fractured her spine at some point.

It is highly suggested that she get a spine Xray and consult with an Orthopaedic surgeon near you or review with me as well.

I usually advise against Chiropractic procedures as the maneuvers can be devastating.

She can take pain killers and get an Xray done to rule out fracture. Avoid weight lifting and forward bending.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Wouldn't she have known if she had previously broken her back? She has a visit scheduled with her general doctor this Friday afternoon.

I sent more info on a question after I sent this one as I'm new to this site. Maybe more info for you to help out.
