Posted on Fri, 20 May 2016
Question: Chin implant and neck lift or chin implant and lipo. Need chin implant due to overbite. Have double chin as well. I want to define jaw line too. Is it cost effective to do neck lift so as to do it now? have round face small chin what type of implant is best? Have some jowls that I can see. What is best procedure with optimum results? Is the necklift cost significantly higher?

Brief Answer:
Hello thank you for your query.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for using healthcaremagic.

there are too many queries to be answered here.

Chin implant will not correct your overbite and is not an answer to it.
You have to be properly assessed to see what your problem areas are and then address them accordingly.
if there is under neck fat then lipo will help, if there is loose skin then a neck lift will help, if there is a retruded chin then an implant will help.
For a round face depending on what you want you might need a buccal fat removal or if you have jowls might need a lipo or face lift.
Best would be for you to get assessed by a local
plastic surgeon to see what the problems are exactly and what would be the solution for it.
All the procedures mentioned by you are not interchangeable.

maybe if you could send us some
pictures front and side views of the face including the neck we could give you some idea about what would benefit you.

thank you

Doctor said either lipo or necklift will help. My question is necklift better than lipo to define neck and jaw line?

Brief Answer:
Hello, Thank you for the pictures

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I had a look at your pictures. From what I see, I think you should go in for a neck lipo right now which will help reduce the bulk in the neck and as the skin thins out it will retract. But, you will have to wear a tight garment for the neck to allow the skin to shrink to give you good definition of the jaw line.

on the other hand if you do not want to wait for the skin to shrink (6-12weeks) you can go ahead and do the neck lift which also involves liposuction of the neck and removal of the excess skin but that would leave a scar around your hairline.

So as your doc mentioned both options are possible for you and I have tried to explain what the differences between them. If you were 10 years older I would definitely say, go in for the neck lift but right now both options are possible.

But considering the fact that Lipo doesn't have a long scar, it would be my first preference.

Thank you
