Question: Can tramadol cause red bloodshot eyes? Ive been on it a couple weeks now and within a couple days of taking it, i noticed my eyes turning red and blood shot. They do not itch. Ive tried visine, but nothing seems to take the red out. It looks horrible!

Brief Answer:
Tramadol can cause redness of eyes rarely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic.

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that you are having redness of the eyes.

Tramadol is known to cause redness of eyes, irritation of eyes and dryness of eyes. But this side effect of the drug is relatively rare. Hence we need to rule out other common conditions causing the redness of the eyes. The common causes are allergies, infections and dryness of the eyes.
The infections are usually associated with watering and discharge of the eyes, if you are not having discharge it rules out infection.
The allergic conditions are usually associated with itching and ropy discharge and as you are not having these symptoms it rules out this condition.
Visine is an artificial tear eye drops used for treating dryness of the eyes and since it is not responding to it, examination of the eye is required to find out the underlying cause.

If possible do send a photo of the eyes so that I can advice you more accurately.
Hence I advice you that Tramadol can cause redness of the eyes, but this is relatively rare and an eye examination is required to rule out other common causes for redness of the eyes.

Hope this is helpful to you.
Do write back to me for further questions.

Thank you
With regards
