Posted on Mon, 9 Jan 2017
Question: Can Tizanatine or Tylenol pm comtribute to tinnitus and can tinnitus be in only one ear?

I've been recovering from sciatic nerve surgery for 8 months and laying on my stomach a lot which has meant my ears have been pressed against the pillow or mattress alot

Could the tinnitus be related to the sciatica?

Brief Answer:
Read below

Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern about medication side effects.

However neither Tizanidine not Tylenol pm are known to cause or contribute to tinnitus, they should not be related. The fact it is only on one ear supports it not being due to medication which should affect both ears.

I do not think that it has much to do with having the ears pressed against the mattress or pillow either, it doesn't affect the ear really rest assured about that. So it must be further evaluated from an audiologist or ENT specialist for the type of tinnitus, accompanying hearing loss or other changes which should help identify the cause.

I remain at your disposal for other questions.

Brief Answer:
No

Detailed Answer:
No, there is no anatomical relation between the two, they are not connected.
