Posted on Wed, 8 Mar 2017
Question: Hi, my wife is in the 34th week of the pregnancy. The Gynac, in the last checkup informed us about the possibility of early delivery. To delay the delivery, she has put my wife on Susten 200 mg for 1 week. I just wanted to know if it is safe to take Susten 200mg and if there are any side effects

Brief Answer:
Safe for a week.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Taking susten - a naturalised progesterone preparation will add to the placental support and will help in preventing the premature pains. Taking it for a week is not harmful. Rather it will decrease the chances of early labor. it can cause minor well tolerated side effects like nausea headache etc which can be decreased by inserting the tablet vaginally instead of taking it orally.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
