Question: hello doctors, I've been experiencing some anxiety/depression for about the last 6 months. it's rather mild to moderate at times but bottom line....i don't feel like my normal self. well I recently bought perika st johns wort with 2% hyperforin 900mg a day and I also bought some adaptogen herbs which are rhodiola 300mg, ashwaganda 250mg, eleutherococcus 100mg and royal jelly 50mg. my question is can i take these while I'm taking st johns wort?? And if so are these dosages ok or should I up the dosage of the adaptogens??? thank you

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

St. John's Wort has some evidence of efficacy in mild depression. However, be advised that it should not be mixed with other supplements or medications as it drastically alters their metabolism in the body. If you choose to take St. John's Wort rather than an approved antidepressant medication, you cannot combine it with other supplements.
