Can STD Be Transmitted Without Sexual Contact?

Posted on Wed, 30 Sep 2015
Question: A girl I used to have sex with told me that a guy she was having sex with had complained to her about noticing some std symptoms on his penis. I have had unprotected sex with her in the past. I have been tested for stds in the past and have not come up positive for anything. But I couldn't help thinking about earlier in my youth when I was a virgin and I noticed some kind of rash or blister/wart (it's hard to explain what it was) symptoms on my penis. I was still a virgin at the time so I didn't think much of it, I thought it might be some kind of heat rash or something. Could this be something I might have passed on to my previous sexual relationship on to her sexual relationship she has now? The symptoms I had in my youth don't fit under any stds I have looked up on cdc.gov and I have been tested for stds before coming up negative, although maybe the doctor didn't know what to look for.

Am I being paranoid - I'm guessing I am. But please humor me and let me know there's nothing to worry about.

Thanks
doctor

Brief Answer:
You are unlikely to have any STDs

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.

Without any type sexual contact with another person (male or female), one can not get STDs as Non-venereal transmission or transmission through casual contact through fomites and inanimate objects are rarest possibilities. So your previous lesions on genitals are unlikely to be due to STD.

As long as your tests for STDs remain non reactive after appropriate timings (window period), and as long as you remain asymptomatic you need not bother about the possibility of STDs. Get checked by a your physician as well.
Relax and concentrate on your day to day routine. everything would go well. Try to have safe sex here afterwards.
