Can Plan B Affect My 2nd Period After Taking It?

default
Posted on Wed, 5 Jul 2023
Question: I had my period on July 3rd. I took plan b on July 11th after a condom broke. On July 28th, I started a light period. It got a little heavier on August 1st and lasted a few days. I took a pregnancy test anyway and it was negative. I was expecting my next period this week and I still haven't gotten it. A pregnancy test this morning was also negative. Can plan b effect my 2nd period after taking it? I have taken plan b before and this hasn't happened.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to mild hormonal disturbance caused by Plan B.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The delay in periods that you have now is not related to pregnancy. This can happen due to a mild hormonal disturbance related to Plan B or stress. You need to wait for at least one week more and see if the period starts on its own. In case the period is still delayed then do get Norethisterone tablets prescribed by your gynecologist to get a withdrawal bleeding.

I hope this answers your query. In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out. Wishing you good health.

I did have a lighter, shorter period about 2 weeks after plan b. Is it common for the 2nd period to be delayed?
